Bob Rein MN’24Adventurer, explorer, and student of Indigenous cultures of North America
Explorer Profile

Bob has been exploring and adventuring around the world since 1973. His interest in Native American cultures led him on explorations in New York, Arizona, and Texas. In 1982, he explored the remote jungles and Pagsanjan River in the Philippines using indigenous guides. As an avid sea kayaker, he fell in love with the northernmost reaches of North America.

He is in the process of exploring sections of the Inside Passage, having completed the first 3 of 5 sectors in the Straits of Georgia, Desolation Sound, and Johnstone Strait, and all the while studying the cultures of the Sechelt, Klahoose, Tla’amin, and Kwakiutl peoples that make their home in those areas.

In August of 2025, he will be exploring Haida Gwaii and Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve and Haida Heritage site while working with members of the Haida tribe.

His chosen areas of exploration are The Inside Passage, Alaska, and the Northern Canadian provinces. His dream is to go to the Arctic and learn about Inuit cultures in Canada and Greenland.
